How to Turn Off the Seat Belt Warning on a Toyota Camry
by KateboNewer Toyota Camrys are equipped with a bell that warns you to put on your seat belt before starting the car. Some people find it annoying and wish to turn off the chiming. There are instructions in the owner's manual on how to do this. You don't need any special tools to turn off this seat belt warning and it will only take a few moments of your time.
Step 1
Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the on position, but do not start the engine.
Step 2
Look for a tiny knob on the instrument panel and press it to toggle between the odometer reading and the trip odometer reading. Keep pressing the knob until you see "ODO." Turn off the vehicle.
Step 3
Turn the ignition on but don't crank the engine. Pull the tiny knob out for 10 seconds. While still holding the knob out, put on your seat belt and keep holding the knob for another 5 seconds then release it. The instrument panel will now read "B off."
Step 4
Repeat the above procedure to turn the seat belt warning chime back on.

Tips
- Because in many states it is the law to wear your seat belt, it's not such a bad idea to have a chime to remind you to put it on. If you remember to put on your seat belt anyway and you find the bell annoying, you should shut it off.
