How to Reset a 2007 Toyota Corolla's Maintenance Required Light
by Owen PearsonThe 2007 Toyota Corolla features a "maintenance required" light that comes on when it is time to change the oil and filter. The light trips based on miles driven since it was last reset. If you change your own oil, or if the service mechanic forgets to reset the light, you will need to reset it yourself. This is a simple task that most drivers should be able to accomplish in about five minutes.
Step 1
Insert the key into the ignition and turn it forward to the "on" position, which is one click before the ignition cranks the engine.
Step 2
Locate the trip selector button on the instrument panel. Press it until the display reads "ODO."
Step 3
Press and hold the trip selector button.
Step 4
Turn the ignition off without removing the key. Turn the key back to the "on" position while continuing to hold in the trip selector button.
Step 5
Wait for the odometer to cycle through. It will display a series of zeros, then a series of dashes. As it cycles, the line of dashes will become shorter and disappear. When there are no more dashes, release the trip selector button. The "maintenance required" light will go out.
Step 6
Turn the ignition off and remove the key.
