Depending on the state in which you live, you may be required to have a title for your camper. If you do need a title, it can be obtained through your local Department of Motor Vehicles office; the process is very similar to obtaining a title for any other vehicle.

Step 1

Obtain and fill out an application for a title. These can be downloaded from the state DMV website, or picked up in person at the local DMV office. Include all requested information such as the name, address and drivers license number of the owner, along with the camper's license plate number.

Step 2

Include the bill of sale and original title or manufacturer's certificate of origin with your application. If you do not have these, you can have the application signed and notarized. This is testament to the fact that you are the legal owner of the camper and legally allowed to obtain a title.

Step 3

Mail the application to your local DMV branch. You can also submit the application in person. Include all required application fees, which will be stated on the application.
