How to Reset the Lights on a Honda

Various warning lights can can illuminate on your instrument panel, alerting you to maintenance and repair needs. The on-board diagnostics computer receives trouble codes from sensors positioned throughout the vehicle. The procedures for resetting the lights vary depending on what year and model the Honda is.
1990 to 1995 Hondas
Step 1
Find the slot for the internal reset button on the driver's-side part of the dashboard to the left of the "maintenance required" light. Put the ignition key into that slot to press the internal reset button and then remove.
Step 2
Put the key into the ignition and start the engine.
Step 3
Observe the instrument panel to make sure the warning light or lights have shut off.
1995 to present Hondas
Step 1
Press and hold the reset button, located under the odometer.
Step 2
Turn the ignition key to the "on" position while still depressing the reset button.
Step 3
Hold the button until the light turns off. Turn off the vehicle and wait 60 seconds. Start the engine and verify that the warning lights have turned off.
