How to Reset the Chrysler 300 Key
by David ClairThe Chrysler 300 uses a programmable key system that prevents theft of the vehicle by disabling the ignition when an unauthorized key is used. Each key used in the 300 must be programmed so it will work correctly. If additional keys are obtained for use with the car, the key must be reset in order to be compatible with that specific car. Two valid keys are needed in order to reset a new key. Up to a total of eight keys can be programmed to work with the 300.
Step 1
Insert a valid key into the ignition.
Step 2
Turn the ignition switch to "On" for longer than 3 seconds but no longer than 15 seconds.
Step 3
Turn the ignition off. Remove the key.
Step 4
Insert the second valid key into the ignition.
Step 5
Turn the ignition switch to "On."
Step 6
Turn the ignition switch off after a chime sounds and the theft alarm light flashes on the instrument panel. Remove the key.
Step 7
Insert the new key to be reset into the ignition.
Step 8
Turn the ignition switch "On."
Step 9
Turn the ignition switch off after a chime sounds and the theft alarm light flashes then turns off. The key is now reset and ready to use.
