How to Reset the Check Engine Light on a 2003 Trailblazer
by Alibaster SmithThe check engine light on your 2003 Trailblazer comes on when regular maintenance is required, or when there is a problem related to the vehicle's emissions control system. The check engine light can also, in rare instances, refer to various sensors related to engine performance. After you've completed the necessary work on your Trailblazer, you need to know how to reset the check engine light. Because fault codes are generated and stored on the Trailblazer's electronic control unit, you'll need to reset the system; otherwise, the light will stay on.
Step 1
Turn the ignition key to the "II" position.
Step 2
Open the hood of the car, then open the fuse panel cover located in the engine bay. The fuse cover is held in place with retaining clips, so you'll need to pull up on the cover quite hard to pull it off. Then, pull the PCM BAT and PCM IGN fuses from the fuse panel. Use the fuse diagram on the underside of the cover to locate these fuses.
Step 3
Wait five minutes and then turn the ignition key to the "off" position.
Step 4
Place the fuses back into the fuse panel, in their proper location.
Step 5
Start your Trailblazer to verify that the check engine light went off.
