How to Replace the Horn on a Mercury Sableby Marlo Peterson
When looking for a replacement horn for your Mercury Sable, you should check with used auto parts dealers and junkyards to get the best possible price. The horn is a necessary component of your vehicle; it promotes safety and your car is not street legal without one in working condition. Once you find a part, the installation consists of a few simple steps.
Park your car in a level spot that provides enough light to operate under the hood.
Pop the hood of your car. Locate the circular, school-bell-like piece by the battery near the front of the under-hood. It is mounted to a bracket with nuts. Use the wrench to unscrew these nuts and place them in a safe place.
Unplug the power wire from the horn and pull it from the vehicle. Attach the replacement horn against the bracket and secure it into place by tightening the nuts around it with your wrench. Plug the power supply into the new horn.
Test the new horn, pressing the horn button on your steering wheel. Close the hood and clean your work area.
