How to Make Car Wax

by Editorial Team

Making your own car wax is easy to do and will eliminate any chemicals that may be in commercial car wax. Waxing your car with this homemade item not only makes the car look beautiful with its new shine, it also helps to protect the car's finish from the burning rays of the sun and inclement weather.

Step 1

Heat the beeswax and the carnauba wax in the top of a double boiler.

Step 2

Stir the waxes until they mix together.

Step 3

Set aside to cool until it is just starting to get hard.

Step 4

Mix in the pine oil and the turpentine.

Step 5

Dip a clean towel or rag into the mixture to polish your car.

Step 6

Rub the wax onto the surface of your car in sections so the wax doesn't dry too quickly.

Step 7

Polish the area to a shine with a soft clean cloth, towel or rag.
