How to Remove the Rear Seat of the Hyundai Elantra
by Robert MooreYou have to remove the rear seat in your 2014 Hyundai Elantra in two pieces. First you remove the lower seat cushion, then you remove the upper seat cushion.
Removal
Step 1
Slide your hand into the crack between the upper and lower seat cushions. There is a bolt behind the right side of the lower cushion and the left. Remove both bolts with a socket, ratchet and 3-inch ratchet extension. Lift the lower seat cushion and disconnect the electrical connectors for the heated seats, if equipped. Remove the cushion from your Elantra.
Step 2
Open the trunk and find the cushion release levers in the forward corners of the trunk, right next to the trunk lid hinges. Pull on the levers and fold down both sides of the upper seat cushion.
Step 3
Find the mounting bolts behind each side of the upper seat cushion and remove them. Pull the upper cushion forward slightly, then tilt it upright and remove it through one of the rear doors.
Installation
Step 1
Guide the upper seat cushion into your Elantra. Install the bolts, then tighten them to between 13 and 18 foot-pounds with a torque wrench. Lift the upper cushion and press on each upper corner to lock it into place.
Step 2
Guide the lower seat cushion into your Elantra. Connect the electrical connectors for the heated seats, if equipped.
Step 3
Make sure all seat buckles are resting on the lower cushion, then slide the cushion into place. Install the bolts and tighten them to between 13 and 18 foot-pounds.
