How to Remove the Front Bumper of a Mitsubishi Outlander
by Jenny CarverA Mitsubishi Outlander is an SUV with what looks like a large and intimidating front bumper. In reality, the bumper is average size and can be removed just as easily as most other front bumpers. The Outlander front bumper also holds two fog lights and a license plate holder. These need to be removed along with the front bumper. Everything can be removed in under 30 minutes using a few tools in your own driveway.
Step 1
Locate the small black plastic clips on the lower portion of the front bumper. These clips look like circles and are on the bottom lip of the bumper with one on each end and one in the center. Use a flat screwdriver to pry the clips up and out of the bumper. Under the circle shape, the clip looks like a plastic screw but pops out once pried up. Pull the lip off of the bumper.
Step 2
Get underneath the front bumper of the Outlander and remove the clips from each side of the bottom lip. There is a smaller peice of the lip on each side of the bumper with two clips in each one. Remove these with the flat screwdriver and pull them off.
Step 3
Look on each end of the front bumper at the very corner where the bumper meets the front fender and find a 12 mm bolt. Use the ratchet and a 12 mm socket to remove these bolts.
Step 4
Lie down underneath the front bumper and look up at the top of the backside of the bumper where it meets the vehicle. There is a row of small, black plastic clips along the top edge. Remove all of these clips.
Step 5
Use a 10 mm socket and a ratchet to remove the two bolts in the license plat holder. Pull the bumper off of the Outlander. The fog lights stay in place on the vehicle.
