How to Remove Dents With a Heat Gun
by Jason JensenHaving a dent removed from your car can be very expensive. Each dent in your car could easily run you $50 to $100 at an auto body shop. Don't get your wallet out yet, though. There a simple trick you can use to take a dent out of a car, and all you need is a heat gun or hair dryer and a can of Air Duster. Aside from the money you will save, this technique will also get the dent out without damaging the paint.
Step 1
Apply heat to the dent for 30 to 60 seconds. Hold the heat gun over the dent and slowly move it in a circular motion.
Step 2
Spray carbon dioxide (CO 2) on the dent with the Air Duster for ten seconds. Ice will form over the dent from the CO2.
Step 3
Wait for the ice to melt. As the ice melts, you will see and hear the dent begin to expand. Once the ice has completely melted, wipe the area with a clean rag.
