How to Program a Passat Wagon Garage Doorby Jeffrey Caldwell
Programing a Passat Wagon garage door opener in the driver-side sun visor is a task that can be performed by you. All it requires is the transmitter that came with your electric garage door opener. If your Volkswagen Passat was previously owned or it has been previously programed to open a different door, you need to clear the old codes from the transmitter.
Clear the Garage Door Opener on a Used Passat
Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position. Do not start the engine.
Hold down buttons "1" and "3" on the Passat garage door opener for 20 seconds.
When the lights begin to flash, let go. The codes are now cleared.
Program a Passat Wagon Garage Door Opener
Hold down the button on the Passat garage door opener you wish to program.
After about 20 seconds, the light will begin to flash slowly. Continue holding down the button on the Passat garage door opener. Hold down the button on the garage door transmitter, and hold the transmitter 1 to 3 inches from the transmitter mounted in the Passat.
The process is complete when the light on the Passat garage door opener starts blinking more quickly. Remove the key from the ignition.
- You can program the transmitter on your Passat to open up to three garage doors.
