How to Program a Dodge Caravan Key
by Ashley HayIn 1984 Dodge introduced its newest model of a minivan, the Caravan. In the 1990s Dodge began offering keyless entry as an available upgrade. As of 2010, most Dodge Caravans come standard with keyless entry. Programming additional remotes for your minivan can be completed at home and in only a few minutes.
Step 1
Open your Caravan’s driver side door and press the “Lock” button five times in a row with a two second gap between each time.
Step 2
Insert your Caravan’s key into the ignition and turn it one click until you hear a chime indicating a key is in the ignition. Do not start the engine. Wait until the chime stops before continuing.
Step 3
Press the “Unlock” button on the programmed remote and hold it down between 5 to 10 seconds. Before releasing the “Unlock” button, press the “Panic” button down for about one second. Release both buttons at the same time. You will hear a chime again which will inform you that the vehicle is now in programming mode.
Step 4
Press the “Unlock” and “Lock” buttons and release them simultaneously, on the remote you are programming, within 30 seconds of the chime.
Step 5
Press the “Unlock” button down and release it promptly. You will hear a chime once again that will confirm the programming has been successful. You may program additional remotes during this time by repeating this step.
Step 6
Remove your Caravan’s key from the ignition to end the programming mode.
