The 3.7L engine in the Dodge Ram pickup truck generates a stock 211 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 236 ft.-lb. of torque at 4,000 rpm. While this is more than enough for everyday driving, enthusiasts will be interested in maximizing the performance of their vehicles with aftermarket upgrades.

Engine Chips

Purchasing and installing an engine performance chip will upgrade the stock horsepower and torque of your Ram by reconfiguring the timing of the engine for maximum performance. This is an easily-reversible procedure that is relatively inexpensive, making it a good first-time upgrade.

Tires

Upgrading the stock tires of your Dodge Ram to a larger set will increase their contact patch with the road, increasing grip and allowing you to accelerate harder and turn at faster speeds without exceeding the tires' coefficient of friction. This allows you to avoid scrubbing off speed due to wheel spin.

Exhaust

Installing a free-breathing exhaust to your Dodge Ram can further increase horsepower by a modest amount by allowing the engine to exhale without restriction. This is another fairly low-cost upgrade that provides a modest boost to performance.
