To find out who the current title holder of a vehicle is you can do an inexpensive title search in the matter of just a few minutes. Not only will the title search history show you who the current title holder of the vehicle is, it will show you the complete history of the vehicle, including whether the vehicle has been in any accidents or if the vehicle has ever been worked on for major mechanical issues.

Step 1

Go to the U.S. Department of Justice's National Motor Vehicle Title Information System website to complete a title search.

Step 2

Click on the link that reads "Check Vehicle History." Choose from the listed companies which one you want to use to complete your title search.

Step 3

Enter your credit card information, personal information and the vehicle identification number. Submit your search.

Step 4

View the results of the title search to obtain the name of the current title holder.
