How to Measure a Motorcycle Rim
by Kim SarahMeasuring a motorcycle rim is the same as obtaining the numbers from any vehicle's wheels. Properly measuring your rims is important for ordering the correct sized tires. The two measurements that should be taken is the diameter and the width. The diameter is the distance across the widest part of a circle. The width of the rim is the distance from one side to the other of the portion on which the tire will rest. Measuring a rim only takes a few steps.
Step 1
Remove the tire from the rim.
Step 2
Lay the rim on a flat surface.
Step 3
Measure the diameter of the rim. Do this by measuring the distance between the widest point of the rim. Measure from the bed where the tire will sit. Do not measure from the outermost portion of the rim.
Step 4
Measure the width of the rim. Do this by measuring the distance from one side of the tire bed to the other. Start and stop at the points where the tire bed meets the outermost point of the rim.
