The Location of the A/C Drain Pan in a Toyota Highlander
by Lindsay HowellWhen you turn on the air conditioning in your Toyota Highlander, condensation forms within the unit. This condensation, in the form of water, drains away from the unit to a drain pan and into a hose that drains the water out of the vehicle. This system is designed so that the condensation does not cause electric shock, which can damage the car. To locate your Highlander's a/c drain pan, you will need to remove some components from inside the vehicle.
Step 1
Unscrew the components fastening the front part of the passenger's side dash, where the air conditioning vent is located. Set the console aside.
Step 2
Remove the carpeting from the passenger's side floor. Now that you have removed the passenger's side dash, the carpeting can easily be lifted off.
Step 3
Follow the a/c drain down to the bottom of the floor and you will locate the drain pan. This is where condensation accumulates and flows via a hose out of the Highlander.
