Lexus Key Programming Instructions
by Megan Mattingly-ArthurThe Lexus brand has become synonymous with elegance, comfort, style and affluence. Lexus vehicles from recent models years come with computerized, dealer-programmed Smart Keys that communicate with the engine control unit. If you have at least one of the original master smart keys that came with your vehicle, you can program additional Lexus keys.
Step 1
Program your Lexus key from your vehicle's driver's seat. Close all of the vehicle doors before beginning the programming process.
Step 2
Insert your pre-programmed Lexus master key into the ignition cylinder. Turn the master key back and forth between the "On" and "Off" ignition positions five times.
Step 3
Open and close the vehicle's driver's door six times, then quickly remove the master key from the ignition cylinder.
Step 4
Insert the new, unprogrammed, key into the ignition. The vehicle's security light will begin flashing.
Step 5
Wait for the security lights to stop flashing: This indicates that the key has been programmed successfully. Step down on the brake once to exit the programming mode.
