Geo Tracker Soft Top Instructionsby Dustin Thornton
The Geo or Chevrolet Tracker is a miniature sport utility vehicle. Some Geo Trackers include the option for a removable rear canvas top. Removing the canvas top of your Geo Tracker is a time consuming process if you are unfamiliar with the various fasteners securing it in place, but with practice you can learn how to quickly remove the soft top. Before you remove the soft top, you must remove the rear window.
Remove Rear Window
Unfasten the soft top rear window from the side panels on each side. There is a Velcro fastener at the bottom of the section where the rear window meets the canvas top with a zipper beneath. Simply pull the Velcro latch to unfasten.
Grasp the bottom left edge of the rear window and pull downward at the spot marked "PULL" on the tailgate. Repeat on the bottom right and bottom center edges.
Unzip the rear window from the canvas top and remove it from the vehicle.

Lower the antenna by grasping the knob on the top of the antenna and manually pushing it down into the windshield panel.
Lower both the driver- and passenger-side sun visors.
Unsnap the snaps on the straps that secure the front portion of the canvas top to the the top bow (directly above the windshield). There are two straps (upper and lower) on each side; access the straps from within the vehicle.
Grasp the left side window frame at the base of the canvas top and push outward. Repeat on the right side.
Disengage the canvas top Velcro fastener from the left side window frame, then reconnect the frame to the vehicle. Push inward to lock it in place. Repeat on the right side.
Locate the bow latch at the top of the windshield between the sun visors. Squeeze the latch and pull rearward to unlock.
Swing the front top bow up and toward the rear of the vehicle. Note that the top bow pivots. Disengage the Velcro fasteners from the front top bow and unhook the canvas top.
Unfasten the snaps on the tension straps that run along the roof of the canvas top and connect to the roof rails.
Unfasten the snaps that secure the canvas top to the connectors near the dome light on the rear roof support.
Unfasten the snaps that secure the canvas to the rear top bow.
Lift the canvas top off the vehicle to remove.
Unhook the rear top bow struts on each side by lifting up and pulling toward the rear of the vehicle. Pivot the struts forward, then lock them in place using the clamps along the rear top bow.
Pivot the rear bow toward the rear of the vehicle until it rests along the tailgate. Secure it in place using the strap on the inside edge of the tailgate. The tailgate strap has a snap fastener.
Lower the front top bow until it comes to rest above the windshield. Press down until it is secured in the clamps along the top of the windshield.
