What Is an Engine Harness?
by Troy LambertWiring harnesses are like the blood vessels for the electricity in your car. They carry it from place to place so it gets where it needs to go. Different wiring harnesses serve different purposes.
The Heart
The heart of your electrical system is the battery. The alternator makes sure that the battery has power, and a portion of the engine wiring harness carries that power to the fuse box.
The Protector
The fuse box protects your vehicle from electrical fire by stopping the current if it is too great. The engine wiring harness first runs from the engine to the fuse box. The fuse box is where the power branches off and goes back into the engine compartment as well as to the rest of your car.
Back to the Engine
The engine wiring harness then brings power back to the engine and those engine components that need it. These include the computer, the fuel injectors, the wiper and blower motors, and any other electrical component located under the hood.
