How Do I Tell What Year My Suzuki Dirt Bike Is?
by Chris GillilandSuzuki's off-road lineup has grown to include an impressive array of of dirt bikes. Although many of these bikes have distinguished themselves with their performance, it can be difficult to discern the differences between various year models. Fortunately, finding the model year of your dirt bike is easy enough for anyone to do.
Step 1
Locate the dirt bike's 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). This is often stamped onto the right side of the steering head, where the front fork is mounted on the frame.
Step 2
Count to and take note of the 10th alphanumeric digit in the VIN.
Step 3
Match this number or letter code to the year the bike was produced. A bike produced between 2001 to 2009 will be signified by a numeric code between 1 to 9, accordingly. An alphabetic code states that the bike was built before 2001. A code, for example, stands for year 2000. This letter code descends from "Y" (year 2000) to "A" (year 1980). An "R," for example, designates a dirt bike as a 1994 model.
