How do I Tell the Year of a Yamaha Blaster?

by Kevin Bramer

The Yamaha Blaster ATV (all-terrain vehicle) has been sold in the U.S. from 1988 to 2006. It is designed for taut handling and the front and rear suspension tames are meant to ensure a smooth ride. The year of your Blaster can be determined by locating the VIN number on your vehicle and matching a digit to a chart determining vehicle year.

Step 1

Locate the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on the frame of your Yamaha Blaster. It is stamped on the frame near the left foot peg.

Step 2

Determine the 10th digit or letter of the VIN number.

Check the following conversion chart to determine the year of your Yamaha Blaster. J: 1988 K: 1989 L: 1990 M: 1991 N: 1992 P: 1993 R: 1994 S: 1995 T: 1996 V: 1997 W: 1998 X: 1999 Y: 2000 1: 2001 2: 2002 3: 2003 4: 2004 5: 2005 6: 2006
