How Do I Open a 350Z Gas Tank?

by Tara Kimball

The Nissan 350Z, now succeeded by the 370Z, was the fifth-generation Nissan Z car. The two-seat sportster has a locked fuel door that you must release from inside the car. A locked fuel door increases the security of your fuel tank and your car. You have to open a locking fuel door properly to avoid damaging the mechanisms, rendering the door useless.

Step 1

Sit in the driver seat of your 350Z.

Step 2

Locate the fuel door release button near the bottom of the dashboard beside the driver door.

Step 3

Press the button to release the fuel door.

Step 4

Turn the filler cap counterclockwise to loosen and remove it. Hook the retaining strap through the hook on the inside of the fuel door to keep the cap out of your way while you fill the tank.

Step 5

Replace the fuel cap and turn it clockwise until it clicks after fueling. Make sure you hear the cap click so that you know it is secure.
