How to Change a Fog Light on an Infiniti Fx35
by Leonardo R. GrabkowskiThe Infiniti FX35 is a luxury crossover manufactured by Nissan. Nissan recommends bringing your Infiniti FX45 to an authorized Infiniti dealer for the replacement of all exterior lighting, including the fog light bulbs. The reason for this is the fog lights are notoriously difficult to access. Unlike many other vehicles, you'll have to remove several undercarriage panels to access the Infiniti FX35's fog lights.
Step 1
Park your Infiniti FX35 on level ground. Make sure your front wheels are straight. Use your pliers to remove the negative cable from the vehicle's battery. This prevents electric shock while you are changing the fog light.
Step 2
Inspect the area beneath the front fender well on the side with the fog light you are changing. Directly above the wheel you'll see the front fillet cover. This small cover bridges the gap between the edge of the fender well and the plastic protector.
Step 3
Pry out the grommet clips attached to the front filter cover using a flat head screwdriver. Pull the front fillet cover down to remove it. Behind it, you'll see four additional grommets. Remove them with the flat head screwdriver.
Step 4
Remove the screw from the bottom mud guard directly behind the front wheel. It's on the bottom edge of the frame. Pull the guard off carefully.
Step 5
Pull down the plastic fender well protector to remove it. It's held in place by several clips. As you pull, they will pop out. You'll now have access to the fog lights.
Step 6
Reach underneath the front of the bumper cover and behind the fog light. Locate the screw at the back of the fog light. Remove it with a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 7
Grasp the plastic cover on the front part of the fog light. Pull it sharply to remove it from the fog light. Grasp the fog light and pull it toward you. Unplug the fog light's wiring harness from the rear.
Step 8
Plug the new fog light into the harness. Insert it into place. Reinstall and tighten the screw on the back part of the fog light. Place the plastic cover on the front of the fog light into position and push it firmly to reattach it.
Step 9
Reattach the fender well protector. Line up the protector's clips and push them firmly into place.
Step 10
Reattach the mud guard. Tighten the screw on the guard to secure it. Reattach the front fillet molding. Insert the grommet clips and push them firmly into place to reattach it.
Step 11
Repeat the entire fog light replacement procedure for the other side, if necessary. The procedure is the same for either side.
