How to Change the Fog Lamp in a Nissan Murano

Changing the fog light assembly in your Nissan Murano can be accomplished from under the front fender well of the car. If the lens or light assembly becomes damaged, you need to purchase a replacement from the Nissan dealer, a salvage yard or an aftermarket supplier. The assembly is removed through the front of the bumper, but the retaining bolts all need to be removed from the back side. The tire and wheel may need to be removed to access the bolts that retain the assembly.

Things You'll Need:

• Lug wrench
• Jack
• Jack stands
• Phillips screwdriver
• Flat head screwdriver
• Metric wrench set

1. Loosen the lug nuts on the front tire but do not remove them yet

Loosen the lug nuts on the front tire but do not remove them yet. Position the jack under the car and lift it until the wheel is off the ground. Position a jack stand securely under the car to support it. Remove the lug nuts and take the tire off the car.

2. Locate the two retaining screws at the front edge of the inner fender protector

Locate the two retaining screws at the front edge of the inner fender protector under the wheel well. Remove them with a Phillips screwdriver and set the screws aside to be reused during reassembly.

3. Locate and remove the four retaining clips

Locate and remove the four retaining clips along the inner edge of the inner fender protector and remove them with a flat screwdriver. Be careful not to break the clips as you remove them.

4. Pull the front fender protector down and out of the way

Pull the front fender protector down and out of the way. You will see the back of the fog light assembly on the back side of the front bumper. Locate the three retaining bolts on the fog light. There are two that go into the rear of the assembly and one on the top edge.

5. Remove the three retaining screws from the fog light assembly

Remove the three retaining screws from the fog light assembly. Locate and disconnect the wiring harness connector from the back of the fog light bulb. You will need to release the locking clip before you can unplug the connector.

6. Push the fog light assembly forward and remove it from the front of the bumper

Push the fog light assembly forward and remove it from the front of the bumper. Transfer the bulb, if needed, to the new fog light. Slide the new fog light assembly into the bumper and push it all the way back.

7. Install the three mounting bolts to retain the assembly and tighten them with a wrench

Install the three mounting bolts to retain the assembly and tighten them with a wrench. Reconnect the wiring harness connector by pushing it in until it clicks, indicating that it is locked.

8. Replace the inner fender protector and install the four locking retaining clips

Replace the inner fender protector and install the four locking retaining clips along the inner fender edge. Install the two retaining screws and tighten them with a Phillips screwdriver.

9. Reinstall the tire on the wheel studs and tighten the lug nuts until they are snug

Reinstall the tire on the wheel studs and tighten the lug nuts until they are snug. Raise the car with a jack, remove the jack stands and lower the car to the ground. Tighten the lug nuts with your lug wrench. Test the fog light to ensure it is working.
