How to Reset a S550 Maintenance Message
by David ClairMercedes-Benz equips its S550 sedans with a maintenance interval tracking system that displays reminder messages when it determines regular service is due. Certain maintenance messages automatically reset after receiving information from sensors in the vehicle that the service has been performed. Some messages need to be manually reset after the service is complete. Mercedes-Benz dealers should reset the indicator if they perform the service. If you service the car yourself, reset the indicator on the control panel.
Step 1
Insert the key into the ignition. Turn the ignition to position 1.
Step 2
Press and hold the arrow button on the right side of the steering wheel.
Step 3
Press and hold the "OK" button on the left side of the steering wheel.
Step 4
Release the buttons when the maintenance messages screen appears on the display.
Step 5
Press the up or down arrow button until "Reset" is highlighted.
Step 6
Press the "OK" button to reset.
