2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Towing Specifications

From 1933 through the 1950s, Dodge used an emblem of a ram's head on the hood, but the trucks were not officially named the Ram until 1981. The Ram name has now become a staple in Dodge's line up. There are a total of six trim lines available in the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 lineup: ST, SLT, TRX4, Laramie, Sport and SRT-10. Each of the trim levels have different towing specifications.
ST
The ST trim-line -- available in two- or four-wheel drive -- has three main body styles in each of the drivetrains. The two-wheel-drive ST has a maximum towing capacity of 9,100 lbs. with a regular cab, standard bed and 8,900 lbs. with a regular cab, long bed and quad cab, standard bed. In four-wheel drive, the ST has a maximum towing capacity of 8,800 lbs. with a regular cab and standard bed; 8,600 lbs. with a standard cab, long bed and quad cab, standard bed; 8,400 when equipped with a quad cab and long bed.
SLT
The SLT version of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 has several body styles and towing capacities. The maximum towing capacity of the four-wheel drive is 8,850 lbs. with a regular cab and standard bed; 8,650 lbs. with a regular cab and long bed; 8,500 lbs. with a quad cab and regular bed; 8,400 lbs. with a mega cab and standard bed; and 8,300 lbs. with a quad cab and long bed. The two-wheel-drive SLTs have a maximum towing capacity of 9,100 lbs with a regular cab and standard bed; 8,900 lbs. with a regular cab and long bed; 8,800 lbs. with a quad cab and standard bed; 8,600 lbs. with a quad cab and long bed; and 8,750 lbs. with a mega cab and standard bed.
TRX4
Being the off-road package of the 2006 Ram 1500, the TRX4 only came in four-wheel drive. It has a maximum towing capacity of 8,850 lbs. with a regular cab and standard bed; 8,650 lbs. with a regular cab and long bed; 8,500 lbs. with a quad cab and regular bed.
Laramie
The Laramie -- the Ram 1500's luxury trim-level -- comes with either two- or four-wheel drive. Its maximum towing capacity with four-wheel drive is 8,800 lbs. with a regular cab and standard bed; 8,600 lbs. with a regular cab and long bed; 8,500 lbs. with a quad cab and regular bed; 8,300 lbs. with a quad cab and long bed; and 8,200 lbs. with a mega cab and regular bed. When equipped with two-wheel drive, the Laramie's maximum towing capacity is 9,050 lbs. with a regular cab and standard bed; 8,850 with a regular cab and long bed; 8,800 lbs. with a quad cab and regular bed; 8,650 lbs. with a mega cab and standard bed; and 8,600 lbs. with a quad cab and long bed.
Sport
The four-wheel-drive models of the sport trim line can tow up to 8,500 lbs. with a quad cab and standard bed or 7,750 lbs. with a regular cab and long bed. With two-wheel drive, the sport trim level tows 8,800 lbs. with a quad cab and standard bed or 8,000 lbs. with a regular cab and standard bed.
SRT-10
The SRT-10 -- the sports truck -- comes in either regular cab or quad cab. The regular cab has no available towing data, but the quad cab version tows up to 7,500 lbs.
