How to Set the Clock on a 1998 Subaru Legacy

by Leonardo R. Grabkowski

The clock in the 1998 Subaru Legacy is included with the factory stereo. The car came with either a cassette player or a CD player/cassette combo unit. The procedure to set the clock is slightly different between the stereos. Clock-setting instructions differ for vehicles equipped with an aftermarket radio. Consult the manual for your aftermarket radio for specific instructions.

Step 1

Insert the Legacy's key into the ignition and turn it to "Acc."

Step 2

Push and hold the "Disp" button for one second if your Legacy has the CD player. If it doesn't have the CD player, this step isn't necessary.

Step 3

Press and hold "Disp" and "H" to set the clock's hour entry. The hour will advance by one-hour increments. Release the buttons when it is correct.

Press and hold "Disp" and "M" to set the clock's minute entry. The entry will advance in one-minute increments. Release the buttons and turn the key to "Off" to save the time.
