How to Reset the CTS Airbag Light
by David ClairEvery Cadillac CTS is equipped with an airbag system that automatically inflates air bags if the sensors connected to the system detect an accident. Each time the CTS is started, the computer runs a check to make sure the air bag system is functioning properly. If an error is detected, the airbag light will stay on to alert the driver of the problem. In some cases, the problem can be temporary or a communication error. Resetting the light will help determine if there is a more serious problem with the air bag system.
Step 1
Turn the ignition switch to "ON" without starting the engine.
Step 2
Open the trunk. Pull open the battery access door inside the trunk on the right side.
Step 3
Detach the door of the fuse block located on top of the battery to expose the fuses.
Step 4
Pull out the fuse labeled "AIRBAG" in the middle of the center row of fuses.
Step 5
Turn the ignition switch off.
Step 6
Replace the airbag fuse. Replace the fuse block cover.
Step 7
Close the battery access door. Close the trunk.
Step 8
Start the engine. The airbag system resets.
