How to Replace a Chevy Truck Power Window Switch
by Allen MooreChevy trucks equipped with power windows have switches in each door to control that door's window. The power window switch closes the window circuit when you push it, sending electricity to the power window motor. If the window switch short circuits, it can no longer perform its role. Anyone with a bit of mechanical aptitude can replace a Chevy truck power window switch in less than 15 minutes.
Step 1
Pry the Chevy truck's window switch out of the door panel using the trim tool. Most auto parts stores sell trim tools for about the same price as a quality screwdriver.
Step 2
Grab the window circuit connector where it connects to the underside of the window switch with one hand while holding the switch with your other hand.
Step 3
Disconnect the wiring circuit connector from the switch by pulling directly down from the switch.
Step 4
Plug the new switch into the window circuit connector by hand.
Step 5
Push the new window switch into the door panel by hand until it snaps into place.
