How to Replace a KIA Optima 2007 Headlight Assembly

by Tara Kimball

Keep your headlights in working order to protect your safety on the road. Without functioning headlights, your range of visibility at night is limited. Reducing your visibility increases your risk of a dangerous accident. You can replace the headlight assembly on your 2007 Kia Optima in minutes at home with common household tools. Order a headlight assembly from a Kia dealership or auto parts retailer.

Open the hood of your Optima. Locate the two screws on the inner corner of the headlight assembly, next to the grill area. Remove the screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

Locate the screw inside the engine compartment on the top side of the headlight assembly. Remove the screw with a Phillips screwdriver.

Pull the headlight assembly forward out of the front of the car. Pull the wiring harness connections out of the sockets. Press the retaining tabs down when you pull the connection back to release it.

Press the electrical connections into the harness connectors on the new headlight assembly. Insert the headlight assembly in the mounting area on the front of the car.

Insert the upper retaining screw and tighten it with a Phillips screwdriver. Insert the two lower retaining screws and tighten them with a Phillips screwdriver. Close the hood and test the operation of the new lights.
