How to Replace Lights in a Kia Sorento
by Lawrence StephensChanging the headlight in your KIA Sorento can seem like a daunting task to someone who has never preformed the procedure before. In reality, replacing the lights in your Sorento is a relatively simple task, which you can accomplish with just a few basic hand tools. Occasionally, manufacturers will change the type of bulb they use in their vehicles. Check the owner's manual in your car to determine the proper replacement bulb.
Step 1
Open the hood. Locate the strap that is connected to the headlight housing and the frame. Use a 10mm socket to remove the bolt. Remove the other two bolts on the frame of the headlight housing.
Step 2
Remove the headlight. Slide the headlight housing toward the center of the car and then gently pull it out. Be careful not to pull so hard that you rip the wiring from the back of the housing.
Step 3
Use the screwdriver to unscrew the plastic cap that is holding the bulb into the back of the headlight housing.
Step 4
Release the clip on the bottom of the bulb to remove the wiring harness. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screws and release the tension clip that is holding the bulb into the fixture.
Step 5
Remove the light bulb and insert the new one in its place.
Step 6
Reattach the tension clip and tighten the screws.
Step 7
Clip the wiring harness to the new bulb and screw the plastic cap back on.
Step 8
Push the headlight housing back into place and replace the bolts to mount it back into its original position.
