How to Replace the Fuses in a Kia Spectra
by Editorial TeamWhether you are driving a sedan or hatchback Kia Spectra, the process to change a blown electrical fuse is the same, no matter the model year. Switch it for a new one yourself in just a few minutes with no tools.
Step 1
Shut down your Kia Spectra first. Locate the fuse box on the driver's side under the dashboard and near the kick panel.
Step 2
Remove the fuse box cover to access the fuses. Read the list on the inside cover to review the fuses there. For example the cigarette lighter fuse in a 2001 Kia Spectra is two columns over, in the second row.
Step 3
Pull out the fuse and verify the wire inside is burnt or broken. Find a new fuse that has the same rating listed for the fuse you removed. In this example, the cigarette lighter uses a 15 amp fuse.
Step 4
Push the new fuse into the space until it clicks firmly into place. Close the fuse box cover.
Step 5
Test the new fuse to verify it works once you restart your Kia Spectra.
Tips
- There is a second fuse box under the hood near the battery that houses many fuses. If you do not find the one you need inside your Spectra, check here as well.
Things You'll Need
- New fuse with same rating
