How to Remove the Spare Tire on a 2006 GMC Envoy
by Jericho McCuneThe Envoy is an SUV that GMC designed to be a luxury version of the popular Jimmy. The 2006 model was the first model featuring Stabilitrak, a stability-control feature. A standard feature of the Envoy was a spare tire mounted underneath and at the rear of the SUV; both smaller "doughnut" tires and full-size spares were available. GMC phased out the Envoy after the 2009 model year, but parts and service are still available through GMC and independent auto-parts retailers and service shops.
Step 1
Lift the rear seat of the Envoy and take out the jack handle.
Step 2
Move to the rear of the vehicle and locate the access point on the back end, just above where the spare tire is and to the right of the middle.
Step 3
Place the square end of the jack handle into the access point hole and rotate counterclockwise until the tire lowers completely to the ground.
Step 4
Lift the tire and pull backward to remove it.
