How to Program Honda Transponder Keys
by Matthew FortunaTransponder keys, also known as chip keys or ignition keys, can be programmed to most Honda vehicles. These electronic keys are synced to your engine, and once programmed, only a coded key can be used to start your car. Programming your Honda key requires no previous experience or professional equipment, and you will be able to program up to four keys at a time with this method.
Step 1
Enter your car and put your transponder key into the ignition.
Step 2
Turn the ignition "On," press the Lock button on the key and then cycle it back "Off." Repeat this step two more times.
Step 3
Cycle the key back to the "On" position, press the Lock button on the remote again and wait for the locks to automatically cycle on and off.
Step 4
Turn the ignition key back to "Lock" and remove the key to end the process.
