How to Make Your Own Windshield Defroster

This is a great home remedy for keeping your car's windshield, windows and mirrors frost-free on those cold winter days.

Mix 3 cups of vinegar and 1 cup of water in a bowl. Dip a clean cloth or rag into the solution and gently wring out.

Wipe all glass surfaces with the solution, including windshield, windows and mirrors.

Allow to dry naturally.

Reapply solution after several freezings throughout the cold months.

Tips

  • check If the sun is shining, allow the car to sit outside with the sun directly on the glass to heat it up. Or put your vehicle in the garage after driving it for several minutes; this will heat the air in the garage.
  • check Make sure the glass and mirrors are clean before applying the mixture.

Warnings

  • close Do not do this outside when the temperature is below freezing, or the glass may crack.
  • close Do not use hot water.
