How Do I Check Transmission Fluid in a Cayenne?
by Sarah CoennenThe Porsche Cayenne is a European luxury SUV that comes with a manual or automatic transmission. Transmissions are made up of several electrical and hydraulic components that are responsible for the revolutions per minute, or RPM, of the wheels in conjunction with the speed changes in the vehicle. Transmission maintenance is one of the vital processes of overall car maintenance. You can verify dirty transmission fluid or low fluid levels in the Porsche Cayenne by checking the dipstick.
Step 1
Turn on the Cayenne's engine and let it idle for 15 minutes.
Step 2
Turn the engine off and open the hood of the Porsche Cayenne. Find the transmission dipstick located at the front of the car on the left side of the engine. You will know the transmission dipstick by the yellow handle.
Step 3
Pull out the dipstick without touching the engine. The engine is still very hot at this point.
Step 4
Wipe the dipstick off with the old rag, and put it back into the dipstick slot.
Step 5
Pull the dipstick out again and look at the bottom of the dipstick, where the fluid levels are indicated. The level of the transmission fluid should be directly below or above the full line, or anywhere in between. If it is halfway down the space between the full and fill line, it needs to be topped off.
Step 6
Purchase the proper transmission fluid for your Cayenne model. You can buy the transmission fluid at Porsche dealerships or have a dealership change the fluid for you.
