How to Disable an Alarm on a Camry
by Ashton DaigleOne option for Toyota Camry owners is an in-car alarm system. Although car alarms are good to have as a security feature, they sometimes can be obtrusive during some minor electrical repairs because they can be accidentally triggered, giving you quite the scare. Your Camry does have a kill switch, however, that temporarily will disable your alarm while you make repairs.
Step 1
Open your Camry's door and sit in the driver's seat.
Step 2
Locate the kill switch, actually a toggle switch, on your Camry. It is located on the left-hand side of the steering wheel column beneath the dashboard. It will be the only switch on that side beneath the dashboard.
Step 3
Press the toggle switch in and hold it.
Step 4
Start the engine on your Camry while you are still depressing this switch.
Step 5
Listen for an audible beep that will let you know the alarm has been disabled.
Step 6
Reverse this process to reactivate your alarm.
