How to Change an Air Filter on a 2006 GMC Envoyby Leonardo R. Grabkowski
The 2006 GMC Envoy's engine air filter should be replaced at least once every 50,000 miles, according to the General Motor's maintenance schedule. However, the filter should be inspected and replaced, if needed, every other oil change if you often drive in a dusty climate. The Envoy is a clone of the Chevrolet Trailblazer. Thus, the air filter replacement procedure and filter part number also applies to the Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Shut the engine down and open the hood. Look on the passenger side of the engine compartment, in the front corner. The air filter is located within the black box. It's in the same location whether your Envoy has the 4.2-liter or the 5.3-liter V6 engine.
Remove the four Phillips screws from the corners of the air filter box. Lift the cover up to expose the filter element. Hold the cover open and remove the filter with your free hand. Discard the old air filter.
Position the new filter in the air box, with the rim facing upward. Push the filter down gently to ensure it's properly seated.
Push the filter cover back onto the air box. Reinsert the Phillips screws and tighten them well to complete the procedure.
- General Motors recommends using GM or ACDelco parts for your Envoy. The GM part number for the 2006 Envoy's air filter is 15036141. The ACDelco part number is A2014C.
