Dodge 1984 pick-up trucks were based on models produced by Chrysler Motors beginning in the 1960s. The 1984 pick-up was Dodge Chrysler's all-purpose economical pick-up, which had improved features and provided owners with a fuel-efficient truck at a reasonably low price. The 1984 Dodge Truck ushered in an era of low-mileage trucks, which became the norm throughout the '80s and '90s. Chrysler discontinued the model in 1993.

The 1984 Dodge Truck was part of Chrysler's second model generation, which began production in 1983. Chrysler made three product lines: two-door, two-door extended cab and four-door crew cab. Each came with anti-lock brakes, front disc brakes utilizing ventilated discs, which assist the braking system. Buyers could choose between a four-speed automatic transmission and a five-speed manual transmission.

The 1984 Dodge Truck models featured a regular front-wheel drive layout, with the engine position in an angled position, perpendicular to the length of the truck. This vehicle was mass manufactured on Chrysler's AD-Body platform.
