How to Synchronize Windshield Wipers
by Mary McNallyYour windshield wiper blades can become unsynchronized if you try to turn them on while they are frozen to the windshield. This makes it difficult to operate the windshield wipers and to keep your windshield clear of rain, snow and ice. Fortunately, you can synchronize your windshield wipers with a few simple steps.
Step 1
Remove the windshield wiper arms by sliding them off the wiper mechanism.
Step 2
Turn the windshield wipers on and then off, to make sure that they are in the “off” position.
Step 3
Put the windshield wiper arms back on as if they are in the “off” position, by sliding them back onto the windshield wiper mechanism.
Step 4
Test the synchronizing process by turning the windshield wipers on to "slow," then "medium" and "fast."
Step 5
Turn the windshield wipers to the "off" position and watch them to ensure that they stay synchronized as they return to the "off" position.
