How to Replace the Fuses in a Chevy Impala

by Kyle McBride

In the 2014 and 2015 Chevrolet Impala, the fuses are in both the engine compartment fuse block -- located against the driver-side fender and just behind the filler cap for the windshield washer fluid -- and in the instrument panel fuse block behind the lower dashboard panel to the left of the steering column. Your Impala uses mini-fuses and J-case fuses. The J-case fuses are square, high-current fuses, but you change them the same way as the mini-fuses -- pull them straight out to remove them and push them straight in to install them. If the fuses are too close together to grasp one with your fingers, use a fuse puller or a pair of needle-nose pliers. Always replace a fuse with one of the same amperage.

Fuse Block Access

In the 2014 Impala, the instrument panel fuse block access changes depending on whether you have the storage bin. With the storage bin, unlatch it by pushing forward on the top edge, then press in the sides to remove it from the dashboard. Swing the fuse block door down to get to the fuses. Without the storage bin, open the fuse block cover by pulling the lower edge of the cover toward you to release the clips. To put the cover on, hook the upper edge of the cover to the dashboard, then press the bottom of the cover until it snaps in place.
