How to Remove the Seats in a Chevy Silverado

by Chris Moore

The number of seats in the Chevy Silverado truck can vary depending on the exact year and model. The front can have two seats separated by a center console, or it can have three individual bucket seats that form a single bench seat. The truck can also have a bench seat in the rear. Removing each individual seat is very similar for each model and specific seat, but you might need to remove certain seats before you can remove others.

Step 1

Open both of the truck's front doors. If you are only removing the rear seat, open the smaller extended cab doors and proceed to Step 7.

Step 2

Disconnect the seat belt from the driver seat if it is fastened to the seat; pry off the base trim covers and remove the belt fasteners using a Torx wrench.

Step 3

Move the seat forward toward the instrument panel and unscrew the rear fasteners with a wrench. Disconnect any electrical connectors that are connected to the seat.

Step 4

Push the seat back as far as it will go and remove the fasteners on the front side, then lift the seat off the studs and carry it out of the Silverado.

Step 5

Repeat all of the previous steps to remove the passenger seat.

Step 6

Unscrew and remove the nuts for the center front seat if there is such a seat installed in your truck and remove that seat. These fasteners are not accessible until you remove the first two seats.

Step 7

Remove the bracket bolts at the bottom of the bench rear seat. Lift the rear seat out of the truck.
