How to Replace the Wiper Motor of a 2005 Ford

by Alibaster Smith

Replacing the wiper motor on your 2005 Ford is required when the motor starts squealing or when the wipers won't work at all. The wiper motor controls the function of your wipers through a movable wiper linkage. The motor moves the linkage back and forth as it turns. The wiper arms are connected to the linkage and move in sync with it.

Step 1

Open your Ford's hood. The 2005 Fords have the wiper motor mounted on the firewall on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Step 2

Unbolt the wiper motor from the firewall using a socket wrench.

Step 3

Push down on the release tab on the top of the wiper motor power connector, and pull it off of the wiper motor.

Step 4

Slide the wiper motor off of the firewall, and slide the new wiper motor into place.

Step 5

Secure the wiper motor to the firewall using the factory mounting bolts and a socket wrench.

Step 6

Reconnect the electrical connector to the wiper motor.
