How to Install a Cabin Air Filter in a Suburban

Although they do not affect the performance of your Chevy Suburban, they do optimize the quality of your breathing air in the passenger cab when you're driving. These filters prevent allergens and pollutants from getting into the cab. After time, filters clog up and need to be replaced. Finding and replacing the filters can be a little challenging, but forgo the labor charges at the local repair shop and save yourself some money by doing it yourself.
Step 1
Open the passenger door.
Step 2
Locate and remove the black plastic panel underneath the glove box using the ratchet and a small socket to extract the four screws.
Step 3
Remove the single screw with a screwdriver to the cabin air filter door which is located under the panel you just removed. Unhinge the door and set it aside.
Step 4
Pull the front filter downward and out of the cabin air filter cavity.
Step 5
Reach in and pull the rear filter forward, then downward and out of the cabin air filter cavity.
Step 6
Insert the new (two-part) cabin air filter making sure to install correctly according to the air flow direction marked on the filters. Place the rear filter in first and slide it away from you, then insert the front filter.
Step 7
Replace the cabin air filter door by hinging it first then replacing and tightening the screw.
Step 8
Replace the panel and four screws.
