How to Remove the Dash in a 2000 Cadillac DeVille
by Daniel ValladaresRemoving the dash from your 2000 Cadillac DeVille is a tricky procedure. The dashboard is only held in by seven screws so once you remove those screws, you can easily pull it out, but the screws themselves are hidden behind the air vents. The vents are held in by two locking tabs that must be unlocked to remove them. The tabs can be unlocked with a butter knife, at which point you can remove the screws and pry off the dashboard.
Step 1
Remove the defroster grille on the upper portion of the dash. If you cannot remove it by hand, use a slotted screwdriver to pull it out.
Step 2
Remove the four air vents along the front of the dashboard. Slide a butter knife into the edges of the vents until you hit one of the locking tabs. You will have to carefully maneuver the butter knife until it fits into the locking tab and unlocks it. There are two tabs on each vent. Once you have unlocked the vents, pull them out of the dashboard.
Step 3
Remove the screw hidden behind each vent with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the three screws underneath the defroster grille as well.
Step 4
Pull the dashboard out of the DeVille by pulling up on it. Start at the left-hand side of the dash, pull it out by hand and remove it from the vehicle.
