How Do I Get Mascara Out of Car Upholstery?
by Kimbry ParkerIf you get mascara on your car upholstery, don't worry. Although a mascara stain is unsightly on your car interior, it does not have to be permanent. Despite the dark pigment found in mascara, it is actually not difficult to remove. It is important to remove mascara stains from your car upholstery at first sight to prevent the mascara from being spread farther. Also, cleaning up the mascara must be done properly, so you don't spread it.
Step 1
Pour 2 cups of cool water into a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap and stir thoroughly with the spoon to combine.
Step 2
Dip a clean, white rag into the soapy water and wring it out well. Tamp the mascara stain with the rag and soapy water, switching to clean portions of the rag often. Blot the area with a dry rag to absorb any moisture on the upholstery.
Step 3
Alternate tamping the stain with the rag and soapy water and then blotting with the dry rag until the mascara stain has lifted. Rinse the area with a rag and cold water and blot with a dry rag.
Step 4
Apply dry cleaning solvent to the stain if it persists. Moisten a clean, white rag with the solvent and sponge it onto the stain. Blot with a dry rag to absorb the dry cleaning solvent.
Step 5
Alternate blotting with the dry cleaning solvent and the dry rag until the mascara stain is gone.
