How to Add Coolant to a Chevrolet Malibu
by Zyon SilketTopping off your Chevy Malibu with Dex-Cool radiator fluid keeps your engine from overheating. Dex-Cool is the only recommended brand of fluid for use in Chevy engines as any other brand could cause damage to your radiator and engine. When mixed with distilled water, the fluid in your cooling system helps to keep your Malibu operating at optimum temperatures.
Step 1
Mix a 1:1 ratio of Dex-Cool radiator fluid with distilled water into a mixing container.
Step 2
Open the radiator cap on the Malibu. The cap is located on the left side of the radiator. To prevent personal injury, do not open the cap while the engine is warm.
Step 3
Place a funnel into the radiator filler tube and drain the 1:1 mixture of fluid into the radiator until the fluid reaches the top of the radiator filler tube. Remove the funnel.
Step 4
Run the engine for five minutes with the cap off. This expels air from the coolant system.
Step 5
Place the cap back on the radiator.
