How to Program the Key Fob for a 2000 Impala

by Megan Mattingly-Arthur

The Chevrolet Impala is a series of full-size vehicles from General Motors first produced in the 1958 model year. The 2000 Impala gave owners two different engines and trims to choose from, and offered a convenient keyless entry system as an optional added feature. Perform a quick fob programming process to take advantage of your Impala's keyless entry feature.

Step 1

Insert your key into the Impala's ignition cylinder and turn it to the "Acc" position. Make sure that the vehicle's radio is off before beginning the fob programming process.

Step 2

Locate the "Disp" button on the audio systems panel; hold down the button until the "Settings" message appears on the digital display screen.

Step 3

Press the "Seek" buttons up or down until the "Fob Prog" option is shown. Push the "Next" button to access the Impala's fob programming submenu.

Step 4

Press the "Disp" button while the "Begin" message is on the screen to start the fob programming process.

Step 5

Hold down the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons on your key fob when the "Push Fob" message appears. Release the buttons when a chime sounds, indicating that the programming was successful.

Step 6

Press the "Seek" buttons up or down until the "Exit" option is displayed. Press "Disp" to exit the vehicle's programming mode.
